The Image

Waking before the sunrise, I rushed to pack up all my gear in order to get to the Grill at Tuolumne Meadows as soon as I could. The only thing standing in my way was the 12,000 foot Donohue Pass and 16 miles, but I could smell the burgers on the grill and almost taste the milkshakes. Once reaching the top of the pass, it was all downhill to the Grill. After enjoying good friends, good food, and the shade of Ponderosa pines, it was hard to leave, but the trail beckoned. So, around 5 in the afternoon a fellow hiker and I finally started back to the trail. Unfortunately, we started down the wrong trail for about a mile before realizing our mistake. Once back on the PCT, we were stopped by a backcountry ranger who asked to see our permits. As I went digging into my pack to find my permit being eaten alive by mosquitoes the whole time, the sun was setting fast and so were our hopes to get to camp before dark. The ranger let us go and not even ten minutes later we came to a bridge over the Tuolumne River where the sun was hitting the mist from a cascade just perfectly with the glow of the evening sunset. If I hadn't been inconvenienced by going the wrong way and the ranger, I would have walked over this bridge not thinking twice about it. That is the thing about thru-hiking; you can’t wait for the right opportunity. You just have to make the most of the ones given to you.

All prints will be shipped 1st class with tracking information. The prints are rolled and sent in a durable, heavyweight tube.
